Do I Need a Visa for this trip? Maybe

Traveling to the United States even if you are going directly to the port to board the ship may require a US VISA. We recommend you check with your airline and with RCI directly. RCI will notify us of any documentation issues but it is best to know these things in advance. You can get more information in clicking on those links: Travel Documents – Visa Information

Do I Need a Passport? YES

You must have a valid passport and any VISAS if required in order to board the ship. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of the cruise.

May I choose to have one or two beds in my stateroom?

All staterooms can be configured as one bed or two. You will have this choice when registering with Royal Caribbean International. If you get on board and your room is not correctly configure or you wish to change, you simply notify your stateroom attendant and they will assist you.

Why is a single stateroom not half the price of a double?

Due to cruise line pricing it is always more affordable to travel in double occupancy staterooms. Cruise lines charge the double rate for a single, the only cost savings is the single charge for taxes and gratuities.

Can we book more than two guests in a stateroom?

The maximum occupancy for each stateroom category is listed on our booking site. Most staterooms only accommodate two guests unless they are suite level accommodations.

Can I Book a Stateroom Outside Directly with Royal Caribbean International? NO

Skal Miami has negotiated special group rates for the Skal World Congress and packaged those rates with our Skal Congress program that includes venues, events, staff and other expenses associated with the World Congress. We are not offering a “Congress Only” fee for bookings made outside the Skal rooms block.

Can I Book a Stateroom Category Not Listed on the Skal World Congress Reservation Site? Maybe

If there is a specific stateroom you would like to book that is note one of the rooms that being offered on our web site, you may request that we attempt to secure that stateroom for you. Keep in mind the final price for the stateroom will be different from what Royal Caribbean may be showing on their web site or you may have been quoted because we must add the fees associated with the Congress to this site and have RCI add it to our group stateroom block.

Gratuities / Tipping:

Your Skal pricing includes pre-paid gratuities. This is the minimum amount that RCI requires for gratuities that are shared among the crew. It is optional for your additionally tip exceptional RCI team members who assist you during your voyage.

Is Wi-Fi Included? YES

Royal Caribbean VOOM Wi-Fi is included in your conference package pricing. This allows for one device per person to be logged on to the Wi-Fi at any time. Keep in mind Wi-Fi on board ships is different than land based and can often be slower than you are used to, however Royal Caribbean has the best Wi-Fi at sea possible.

Should I Purchase Travel Insurance? YES!

Travel insurance offerd by Royal Caribbean International’s is being offered upon checkout on our Skal World Congress 2019 Booking Site. We recommend your purchase this option, or purchase a comprehensive travel insurance package from a reputable local supplier in your area. Are Tours Included? No

For your safety and security, if purchasing tours during our ports of call it is recommended that you only purchase tours through RCI or their official tour partners.

Are Airport Transfers Included? No
Taxis, Uber of Lift ride service are all easily accessed from Miami and Fort Lauderdale Airports

Port of Miami is a 10-15 minute ride from Miami Airport and 30 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale Airport.

May I Purchase a Liquor or Beverage Package? Yes

Royal Caribbean has several liquor and beverage packages available. These can be a great value and can be purchased online prior to sailing or on board the ship. The packages are about 20% cheaper when purchased in advance. For information, and to purchase click here.

May I bring liquor on board the ship?

On boarding day Royal Caribbean allows guests to bring two 750 ml bottles of wine or champagne per stateroom, in their carry on baggage. For details on this policy, click here. :

Beer or liquor brought on board or purchased in ports of call will be held by the ship and provided for the passengers at the end of the cruise.

May I Smoke on Board the Ship? Yes

Smoking is allowed in designated smoking areas

May I bring a Clothes Iron on Board: No

Clothes irons, candles or other forms of naked flames are not permitted on board the ship because of the fire hazard they pose.

Currency: You can use the US Dollar in all of our ports of call. If you choose to get local currency it is usually easiest to do this at a local ATM where you will also receive competitive exchange rates and low fees. The will offer competitive rates. Credit cards are widely accepted in shops and restaurants in all of our ports of call.

General Information

Dress Code

On RCI you can be as casual or as smart as you wish. There are always casual dining options. There will be one Royal Caribbean formal night on board (optional) and our Skal receptions will be casually elegant. The Skal Gala Evening will be Black Tie (optional) and plan to wear all of your Skal Regalia.

Hurricane Season:

Officially, the Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1 and runs until Nov. 30. Well, that is half the year and it is something that we are used to living with in South Florida and the Caribbean. Despite today’s hyped 24-hour news cycle and ominous weather graphics, hurricanes are quite accurately forecast and life continues as normal outside to immediate path of storms. Remember that millions of visitor’s travel through South Florida and cruise the Caribbean during the annual hurricane season.

There is an additional benefit of having our congress on a luxury cruise ship as we can avoid any tropical disturbance that might be in the area or along our cruise’s planned path. It is very unusual for a cruise to ever be cancelled due to a storm for this reason. The ship is also has state of the art stability control systems for comfort.

WE DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU CARRY TRAVEL INSURANCE INCLUDING INSURANCE THAT WILL COVER FLIGHT CANCELLATION OR DELAYS.
